Collaboration with Lars Carlsen began in 2000, when he agreed to become a foreign collaborator of the first ISTC project on the ecology of rocket and space activities in Kazakhstan. Since then, Lars Carlsen has been a collaborator on two ISTC projects and has visited our laboratory more than ten times with lecture courses, for project monitoring, and participation in seminars and conferences. Lars Carlsen is a leading expert in the field of ecology and chemical process modeling. Currently, Lars Carlsen is the supervisor of the PhD project of Yerbolat Sailaukhanuly. Laboratory staff have more than 10 joint publications in international and Kazakhstani scientific journals.
Successful collaboration with Prof. Jacek Koziel began in March 2009, when the head of the lab, Kenessov B.N., worked with him at Wageningen University (Netherlands). Jacek Koziel is a leading expert in air sampling and analysis, solid-phase microextraction, and odor chemistry. Prof. Koziel has visited our laboratory multiple times. Prof. Koziel accepts young students from our laboratory for scientific internships in his atmospheric air analysis laboratory at Iowa State University, USA. Kenessov B.N., Sailaukhanuly E., Abilev M.B., Baimatova N.Kh., and Orazbayeva D.S. conducted research in Prof. Koziel's laboratory. Currently, Prof. Koziel is the international scientific advisor for Orazbayeva D.S. and Derbisalin M.A. Laboratory staff have 8 joint publications with Jacek Koziel in international scientific journals.
Kenessov B.N. worked for 7 weeks in Dr. Dymerski's laboratory during his three internships at the Gdansk University of Technology (Poland). Currently, 2 joint articles are being prepared based on the research results. In 2025, Kurmanbayeva T.S. completed an internship in Dr. Dymerski's laboratory.
The "Biosphere Ecology" Laboratory has been collaborating with the Shared Use Center "Arctic" since 2016. The collaboration is aimed at studying and solving environmental problems caused by rocket and space activities in Kazakhstan and Russia. The "Arctic" Shared Use Center is equipped with the most modern analytical equipment, including low and high-resolution mass spectrometers combined with gas and liquid chromatographs, an NMR spectrometer (600 MHz), and others. In February 2016, Kenessov B.N. visited the "Arctic" Shared Use Center and discussed a cooperation plan, which also includes mutual internships and student exchanges. In 2016, an agreement was signed between the universities - al-Farabi KazNU and NArFU. In 2017-2018, two joint articles were published in the journals Chromatographia and Talanta.
The "Biosphere Ecology" Laboratory has been collaborating with the Department of Environmental Chemistry and Bioanalytics at Nicolaus Copernicus University since 2015. As part of the collaboration, 3 internships for employees of the "Biosphere Ecology" Laboratory have been organized at Nicolaus Copernicus University. In July 2016, Kenessov B.N. met with Professor Buszewski at the ExTech&ISSS-2016 conference organized by Nicolaus Copernicus University. Currently, under the supervision of Professor Buszewski, Gulyaim Sagandykova is working on her PhD dissertation.
Professor Kazemian is an international scientific advisor for the dissertation work of Omarova Anara, aimed at improving fiber production technologies for solid-phase microextraction based on metal-organic framework structures.
Collaboration with Prof. Grotenhuis began in 2005 when he visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Tim Grotenhuis is a leading scientist in the field of chemistry and soil remediation. In March 2009, Prof. Grotenhuis supported a one-month visit by Kenessov B.N. to Wageningen University, where he and Prof. Koziel worked on developing a screening method for transformation products of 1,1-dimethylhydrazine in soils. Kenessov B.N. has 1 joint publication with Tim Grotenhuis in the journal Analytica Chimica Acta (2010).
